          Crossword puzzle activity was conducted by Home Science association for 1st,2nd, and 3rd year students on the occasion of breastfeeding awareness week. A set of 15 questions were given to the students and conducted within the given time of 20 minutes followed by the winners announcements after evaluating the answers.

The judge  for this event was Dr.Mousami Shankar. She was was very much impressed and appreciated the students. Winners were announced after the evaluation.

Topic: Recipe making competition on galactogogues foods.

          Recipe making competition was conducted by Home Science association for 2nd and 3rd year students on the occasion of breastfeeding awarenesss week. The prepared galactogogues foods were prepared and displayed in the food science lab. The judge for this event was Dr.Rosina George . The winners were announced after the evaluation.

          Debate competition was conducted by Home Science association for 1st,2nd, and 3rd year students on the occasion of  breastfeeding awareness week. The students have raised their valid points during the debate and had justified their points. The judges were Mrs.N.Nivya and Ms.P. Sravani Sreeja.

BEACH RALLY

Topic: Handloom saree walk

On August 4th, 2024,The Spirit of Vizag organized a vibrant 3km Handloom Saree Walk along Beach Road, celebrating the rich heritage of handloom fabrics. The students from the Department of Home Science enthusiastically participated, showcasing their support for the cause. During the event, one of the students delivered an insightful explanation on the importance of preserving handloom traditions and shared experiences from various field visits organized by the department, highlighting their educational value.

In addition to promoting handloom, the students also took the opportunity to create awareness about breastfeeding, a crucial aspect of maternal and child health. They distributed informative pamphlets to the public, aiming to educate and encourage best practices in the community. The event was a blend of cultural pride and social responsibility, making a meaningful impact on the participants and spectators alike.

Theme: Weaving sustainabale future

Topic: Portfolio and photobooth 

On the occasion of National Handloom Day, the Home Science Association organized a vibrant portfolio and photobooth event, showcasing the rich heritage of Indian handlooms. The event featured an extensive display of handloom sarees from various states, each representing the unique weaving traditions of their regions. These sarees were not merely exhibited but were artistically draped in different styles on chairs, tables, and half-mannequins, illustrating the versatility and elegance of handloom fabrics.

In addition to the sarees, jewellery crafted from handloom fabrics was also displayed, emphasizing the innovative ways in which traditional materials can be repurposed into contemporary accessories. A photobooth, creatively designed using handloom sarees, became a focal point of the event, providing attendees with a memorable backdrop that celebrated the beauty of Indian textiles.

The event also included the screening of a documentary, which delved into the rich history and significance of Indian traditional handlooms and embroideries. This documentary served as an educational tool, raising awareness about the cultural and economic importance of preserving these crafts.

Overall, the event was well-received, with attendees expressing satisfaction with the expo. The thoughtful curation of exhibits and the immersive experience provided by the photobooth and documentary left a lasting impression on all who attended.

HANDLOOM DAY-FASHION WALK & DANCE

Topic: Dance and fashion walk

        Dance and fashion walk was conducted by Home Science association on the occasion of National Handloom Day. A dance was performed by 2nd and 3rd year students on NAARI NAARI song. Followed by the fashion walk, students had converted the handloom sarees into modern dresses and some of them had draped the sarees into different styles. The judges for the show are Dr.Y.Lakshmi Prabha and Dr.P.K.Jayalakshmi. The judges had marked the scores for the fashion walk done by the students. The feedback of the fashion walk was satisfactory.

Photo with family or friends competition was conducted by Home Science Association on the occasion of National Handloom Day. The participants have to send the photo with their family or friends wearing handloom costumes. Students have shown interest in participating in this competition and have actively sent their pictures to the office bearers of the Home Science Association. Then the pictures were finalized by the Faculty Advisors of Home Science Association.

Topic: Eats and Treats

The sale was conducted by the Home Science Association on the occasion of National Nutrition Week on 4th September,2024. the food itermsprtepared were veg burger, veg Manchuria, paneer roll, nachos, mojito, chocolate muffins, samosa chat, American chopsy. The 3rd year students from BSc Home Science have prepared all these items from scratch. The students and faculty have loved the food and the feedback was positive regarding the taste, texture and appearance. The food sale was done under the guidance of Home Science faculty.

Topic: Quiz

The quiz was conducted by Home Science Association on the occasion of National Nutrition Week on 5th September,2024. The quiz is based on the topics of  basic biology, biotechnology ,nutrition and general science. Students of 1st,2nd, and 3rd BSc Home Science have participated enthusiastically. Hints were given to each question and four rounds were conducted in the activity. Round 1 was based on multiple choice questions. Round 2 was based on fill in the blanks. Round 3 was based on guessing the deficiency through the given symptoms. Round 4 was based on picture identification. This activity was done under the guidance of  Faculty Advisors of  Home Science  Association.

Topic: Poster competition

The poster competition was conducted by Home Science Association on the occasion of National Nutrition Week on 6th September,2024. The topic for poster competition was “Nutrition: The foundation of health-highlighting the role of good nutrition in overall wellbeing. Students were supposed to draw a poster on a chart paper at home and have to submit them in the department. The posters were then displayed on the wall journals and then judgement was given by the judges.

Topic: Health camp

The Health Camp was conducted by Home Science Association on the occasion of National Nutrition Week on 6th September,2024. The lab technicians  from the Human Labs have done the CBC (complete blood count) test to the students in human development lab. The complete blood count includes RBCs, haemoglobins, Esinophils, Basophils, Neutrophils and WBCs. The camp was successfully completed under the guidance of Faculty Advisors of Home Science Association.

The Activity was conducted by Home Science Association on 27th September,2024. the activity went very well.the participants shown their talent,creativity and intrest in the field of designing their outfit .the models were super enthusiastic and showed their modelling talent. the activity was full of fun and joy as the designer, models enjoyed it very well by showing up their skill in designing . World Diabetes Day

Theme:Breaking Barriers, Bridging Gap

Topic: skit

The Activity was conducted by Home Science Association on 14th November ,2024. the activity went very well .World Diabetes Day, observed on November 14th each year, aims to raise awareness about diabetes and its impact on global health.The students was performed a skit to create awareness among the young people. They have shown the reality of today’s generation how they are neglected towards their  health and addicted to unhealthy junk through the skit they have shown the other side of it also like how the life will be if the person is maintaining a healthy lifestyle .The activity  was successfully completed under the guidance of Faculty Advisors of Home Science Association and the office barriers.

The activity was conducted by home science association on feb10th 2025 .our departed conducted an essay writing and poster making competition on the occasion of national girl child day .Which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. The activity aimed to promote aawareness and empowerment of girl children and the students showcased their creativity and talent through essay and poster making competition .And our activity has a success in promoting yheimpotance of girls education and rights .
