WORKSHOP ON BAG MAKING

The
department of Home Science has conducted a one day workshop on “Bag Making” by
Ms. T.Tanuja Sravanthi, Alumna, and subject expert. Students of III B.Sc. Home
Science participated in the workshop and presented various types of bag.
During the workshop students of III
B.Sc. Home Science have done various types of bags – using canvas and jute
fabrics. Instructions were given on general rules to be followed during the
pattern making. Standard measurement of different models of bags such as tote
bags, sling bags, cell phone pouches were taught. The bags are eco- friendly
and are enriched with kalamkari and batik printed fabrics. Students learnt
skill in stitching and fixing the fasteners. During the workshop various
techniques in bag making were discussed. These bags are esthetic and are
replaced with plastic bags. This bag making helps
in provides employment and generates income. This training program provides
young women with vocational skills required to establish their own business.
These not only support economically and also show environmental responsibility
by using eco friendly fabrics.
