“Exploring Careers in Fashion, Design and Textiles” Date: 18/12/25

 

On 18-12-2025 at 3:00 PM, a team from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad, visited the campus to conduct a career counselling session for I and II year B.Sc. Home Science students. The session was attended by 45 students.

The NIFT team consisted of Prof. Dr. M. Annaji Sarma (Professor), Prof. G. M. Reddy (Associate Professor), and Mr. Ganesheswara Rao (Administrative Officer). They addressed the students and provided valuable insights into career opportunities in the fashion industry.

During the session, the team elaborated on design education and introduced NIFT as a premier institution functioning under the Ministry of Textiles. They explained that NIFT was established through an Act of Parliament and offers a wide range of programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral levels in the fields of design, technology, and management, focusing on fashion, textiles, clothing, and accessories.

The speakers highlighted the excellent placement opportunities available through NIFT and also emphasized the availability of fee reimbursement and support systems for students belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

The students actively participated in the session, showing keen interest and enthusiasm. They asked several questions, which were clearly addressed by the team, making the session interactive and engaging.

Overall, the programme was very informative, lively, and beneficial for the students, helping them gain clarity about career prospects in the fashion industry.
