Recipe Competition on Galactagogues by Home Science Students
As part of World Breastfeeding Awareness Week, a Recipe Competition focused on galactagogues was held on August 2nd, 2024. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both 2nd and 3rd-year Home Science students, who prepared a variety of recipes designed to support lactating mothers.
The competition aimed to highlight the importance of galactagogues—foods and herbs that promote milk production—in the diets of breastfeeding mothers. Students showcased their culinary skills by creating nutritious and innovative recipes, which they displayed and explained in detail.
Rosina George from the Department of Zoology served as the judge for the event, offering her expertise and thoughtful feedback. The competition was a great success, with a large number of participants contributing to the diverse and delicious array of dishes presented.
The event not only promoted awareness of the significance of galactagogues but also provided students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge in a practical and creative way.
